Alyssa Jayne Milano (born December 19, 1972 in New York City) is an American actress. She currently appears in The WB program Charmed. Milano was born to Italian parents Tom and Lin Milano and has a younger brother, Cory (born 1982), who is also an actor. She grew up in a home on Staten Island.
She began her career at the age of eight when she won a part in an open audition for a national tour of Annie. Having gained a reputation, she appeared in television commercials and off-Broadway productions. One of her first acting roles was at the age of 10 in the television program Who’s the Boss? with Tony Danza, Judith Light and Katherine Helmond. She starred as Samantha Micelli, the daughter of Tony Danza’s part. In order to appear in this show, her family relocated to Hollywood from Brooklyn.
For the majority of her career Milano was known for her role on Who’s the Boss?, something which she tried to shed by appearing in many very adult film roles. Many of these included nudity or very graphic (simulated) sex scenes. Many actresses do not manage to escape the stigma of such a career turn, but Milano redeemed herself with her success on Melrose Place and especially Charmed.
