American Idol: Top 9 Sing Songs of Dolly Parton

Michael Johns is a hottie blank 8:05 p.m. - Brooke White appears *way* too happy to sing “Jolene”. (Dolly did it better!) 8:06 p.m. - Randy Jackson: “I don’t know if that was a stellar performance — it was alright.” Paula Abdul: “What’s great about you is (fill in the blank here).” Simon Cowell: “It lacked emotion, I thought all of you looked very odd together.” 8:07 p.m. - We agree with Simon. For someone who typically displays her heart on her sleeve, Brooke just seems dead this week. 8:12 p.m. - David Cook has a new hairdo, and we can’t complain. He does his own arrangement of “Little Sparrow”. Definitely not as powerful as his other performances. 8:15 p.m. - Randy: “Once again another hot and consistant performance!” Paula: “I like your haircut; I’ve never heard a guy sing that song.” Simon: “If you can make a song about sparrows good, which you did, then congratulations.” 8:18 p.m. - Ramiele Malubay is yawn. 8:19 p.m. - Randy doesn’t dig it. Paula is proud as usual. Simon: “We’re not going to remember this in 10 years.” 8:27 p.m. - Randy liked Jason Castro’s performance. So did Paula. Simon didn’t agree: “I didn’t like that at all. It sounded like the same song as before.” 8:29 p.m. - Now for Carly Smithson … Randy: “I do believe that will probably be one of the better performances of the night.” Paula: “That voice of yours — oh my God!” Simon: “I thought it was good, I didn’t think it was great. I also think you have to have a word who’s dressing you. You don’t look like a star.” 8:32 p.m. - Simon is definitely being hard on the contestants tonight. Although Carly is really getting dressed to make her look like a fat ass on stage. Enough with the spandex!! 8:39 p.m. - David Archuleta tears it up tonight. Standing-ovation worthy. 8:40 p.m. - “I stand corrected that was the best performance of the night.” Paula jib-jabs about his aura. Simon: “This week — absolutely on the money!” 8:41 p.m. - This just might be Kristy Lee Cook’s week as well. Her outfit is hideous. She will fit in well over at CMT though. We can’t believe we’re saying this, but she actually does a good job. 8:43 p.m. - Paula says it was her best. “I thought this week was your best performance — this was pleasant but forgettable.” 8:48 p.m. - If Syesha Mercado doesn’t blow us away with this stellar song choice, we will be disappointed. Her dress looks A-mazing!!! Oh no, her voice definitely was going sharp. 8:51 p.m. - “It was alright,” Randy said, but he knows that Whitney did it better. Evidence below. blank blank 8:52 p.m. - Indeed, Whitney did do it better. “You forget what a brilliant song writer Dolly Parton is. I almost wish you hadn’t got [this song’ in a strange way, the second part pales in comparison to the Whitney version.” 8:56 p.m. - Aw, Dolly Parton is so cute!! Michael Johns is such a stud, and he does a fine job. Better than last week. 8:58 p.m. - Randy: “That was a blazing hot performance.” Paula: “You are a star, a rock star a blues star!” Simon: “I think this is the best I’ve heard you sing.” Hooray!
